The goal of this project is to integrate a sculptural form with the function of a bench. The piece will would allow for pedestrian though ways and not interfere with the vistas for the existing business in the area. In studding the exiting landscape architecture I was drawn to the long planning fences on the edge of the sidewalks on both Ford Parkway and Cleveland Bullavard Forming an arc in the sidewalk, these bences will visually connect the two fence lines to integrate the art into the larger landscape architecture.

With the redesign’s increased attention on making the space more pedestrian and bike friendly, the benches wil serve as a comfortable community gathering ad resting space in the shade.

Visually, the benches will be constructed out Aluminum with glass inserts and a Ipe wood top. The top will be Ipe wood surrounded by an aluminum frame. Underneath will be laminated panes of glass segmented by aluminum. These are long-lasting, durable materials that require little maintenance.
