In Flux
For the City of Minneapolis

Jackson Square Park

Cor-ten steel, sculpted jade glass, fiber optic light
8' x 6' x 6'

In Flux is complex and elusive; steel layers form a sphere inside which curves a laminated glass line. The shapes shift depending on the viewpoint, the internal glass structure transforms from a circle into infinity. As the viewer approaches the sculpture, the steel sphere dominates, but from afar, only the glass is visible. This fluctuating relationship between the internal and external forms reflects the dynamic yet stable nature of the Holland Neighborhood. Alternating fiber optic color lighting in addition to the plaza’s text suggests the diverse and shared experiences of the community, while benches encourage future conversation.
