Iron on Earth
Minnesota Waldorf School
Maplewood, MN
September 25, 2015
A multidisciplinary team of artists from the Minnesota Waldorf School Community including James Brenner, Stephanie Thompson, Gideon Wieck, Jennifer Holt, Chris Poor and Jason Brelsford are leading the amazing iron pour spectacle. Ignited by the strength and will power of the children in the community, this event mimics the star constellations: Ursula Major (The big dipper), Draco, Cassiopeia, and Perseus creating an image of heaven on earth. The event is accompanied by the beat of the drums and members from the Mcalister College Pipeband. During the past month the children have been working on identifying their personal challenges with and creating images that reflect the qualities that are necessary to overcome those challenges. This imagery is carved into sand mols in the shape of star that will be cast Friday night. They leave their challenges as written evidence and watch it be burnt and replaced by iron star sculptures in honor of their own internal transformation.
