The birdhouses at Willa Cather Elementary School were part of Archi-treasure’s Summer Job Program. Fifteen local youths, two youth leaders, a professional artist, and an adult supervisor worked together for six weeks to complete this project. Youth participants studied forms from around the world to generate the shapes of the birdhouses. They then took their ideas to wood and screws. For many, this was their first time having to think in three dimensions. Each birdhouse is as unique as the child who created it.
